New Orleans, LA

Wow, what a fantastic getaway in New Orleans these past few days have been! Visiting the Crescent City around this time of year is a tradition for me. New Orleans has always been a hub of exciting food, people, and music to take in and enjoy. With such a rich history, it truly does feel as though you've been transported back in time to an era of big bands, fabulous Creole cuisine, and an array of colorful people to brighten even the rainiest of days down there. Check out more of my favorite snaps of my little home away from home, and stay tuned for upcoming style posts of my travels!

Every balcony in the French Quarter is marvelously donned with bouquets and blooms of the most colorful variety.

It's hard not to dress for the occasion in the Crescent City--bright and colorful is the name of the game.

These sweet creatures line Jackson Square, awaiting the next load of passengers for an intimate carriage ride around the French Quarter. Don't worry--they are constantly given fresh water and retired during the hottest parts of the day to avoid heat exhaustion (I checked!).

Ah, my favorite part of New Orleans. The art! Every chance I get, I enjoy peeking into the thousands of art galleries in the city. Try chatting up the artists on the street. They usually have an amazing story or two to tell!

Jackson Square: home of St. Louis Cathedral (1st picture), beautiful gardens, and art galleries and boutiques that line the perimeter. Right across the way is the famous Café du Monde!

Gorgeous entry way to a boutique off of Royal Street.

Royal Street: below are shops, restaurants, and galleries, while above them sit astonishing apartments that seemingly remain untouched and uninhabited. This is because what seems like the front of the building to passersby is actually the back! Residents of these apartments enjoy a private courtyard in the center of their buildings to avoid nosy tourists and unwelcome guests. We can't really blame them!

Jax Brewery is one of the largest breweries in the state of Louisiana. Fun fact: it also boasts a penthouse suite at the very top floor that costs quite a pretty penny--$11,000 per month to be exact.

If you reside in the Crescent City, you are more than likely not afraid of a little color! Residents paint their shotgun homes all sorts of bright hues and patterns in celebration of their city's vibrant nature.
