All Play and No Work

....makes Olivia a happy, happy gal?

Holy lace, I'm in love with this dress I recently scooped up! I've never been a fan of lace...but the color and style of this baby is enough to melt away all preconceived notions. I love it because it's sexy enough to wear for date night but modest for work. How gorgeous is the button up neckline and those frilled sleeves!

I chose to feature this kind of "professional" look since I'm all in the mood for corporate life upon graduating (more on that in the next blog post!). I may not currently work in the type of environment where you can get dressed up every day, but a gal can dream right? I remember helping my mother pick out her outfits for the week and color coordinating her earrings, watches, purses, and shoes...Office life seems like the perfect environment to play dress up! In a professional way, right?

I know women have a hard time balancing what is professionally appropriate and what makes them feel fabulous and creative. It can be tough! We can't strut into the building wearing our favorite strapless sundress and hot pink polka dot heels (well, most women can't). Your line of work certainly has its parameters, but most employers and companies have a collective idea regarding what you can/can't wear to the office.

My advice? If you take a look at yourself in the mirror before work and you think to yourself would my boss/co-workers find this questionable? it's obviously best to ditch that look for another time and place. Professional attire (unless specifically stated business professional) doesn't have to be boring! I think my dress embodies that. There is a modest neckline and sleeve length, but the color and fabric lend a sense of femininity. At the end of the day, as women, we want to look and feel our best. The clothes we wear and how they make us feel have so much to do with that!

You can wear the colors you love (yes, colors...not black or gray!) as statement pieces such as a flash of green in your earrings or a fun yellow top under your blazer. Work life shouldn't limit you, but serve as an opportunity to get a little extra creative for showing your style in a professional way!

The dress I'm wearing can only be found on eBay since this beauty has sold out so quickly in the past! You can find it here! I've also linked a handful of my other favorite blue lace dresses that I think y'all should give a try this spring...not just for work, but for play! They're linked below as well as on my Like to Know It page

I've linked one of my favorites on sale at Revolve here.
