Mexican Fiesta Dress and What I'm Reading This Summer

Hola, mi amigas! How stunning is this off the shoulder Mexican fiesta style dress? I picked it up in Cozumel last year and it's the perfect piece to spice up my fashion routine. One of my best friends is a native from Mexico and she was so thrilled to hear that I was featuring this beautiful dress! Not only am I sharing this fantastic foreign piece and where to buy similar style dresses, but I'm also including all the books I want to read this summer in hopes that I can inspire my lovely readers to tackle this challenge with me! (more details below)

If you didn't already know, I've made some extensive goals for myself this season: read one book a week, cook a different recipe each week, and try something new each week

I wanted to share what I'm calling my "Summer of Newness" by kicking off the complete list of books I'm wanting to tackle these next few months as well as some "must-reads" that have been compiled from friends and family recommendations and, of course, the internet. Click on the links to the books to buy them! I tried to find the cheapest versions for my lovely crew...

The Lonely Hearts Hotel//Heather O'Neill

The Last Tycoon//F. Scott Fitzgerald

All The Light We Cannot See//Anthony Doerr

The Alchemist//Paulo Coelho

The Handmaid's Tale//Margaret Atwood

Mrs. Dalloway//Virginia Woolf

Do This For Me//Eliza Kennedy

The Electric Woman//Tessa Fontaine

Tangerine//Christine Mangan

Some honorable mentions that I've already had the pleasure of reading and think you should too:

Great Expectations//Charles Dickens

East of Eden (all time favorite book!)//John Steinbeck

Tales of the Jazz Age//F. Scott Fitzgerald

The Age of Innocence//Edith Wharton

As for my dress, I picked some amazing dupes and similar styles for y'all to glance at and hopefully get inspired to step outside your comfort zone and rock this summer! The ruffles and lace just really give this dress its sense of rich history, tradition, and fun. I have a flair for adopting the styles of past cultures from around the world, and this dress meets the criteria! I love that I can pair it with chic Oscar de la Renta earrings, my favorite wedges, and a trending straw tote to modernize a look that could quickly turn “themed party” in no time. That's what dressing up is about though, right?

After you've browsed the book section (and hopefully made some much deserved purchases to add to your library!) check out these ready to shop styles I found that I'm absolutely falling for...

I'm actively looking and listening for more book recommendations, so drop me a line! Subscribe to the blog here so that we can keep in touch and you don't miss posts like these! In the meantime, comment your book suggestions so I can add them to the list. Also, let me know if you want to tag along with me this summer and make some book goals (or any goals) for yourself...It's always more fun to tackle something when you have someone keeping you accountable and encouraging you along the way!
