Spring Into Stripes

I’m writing this post from the Alabama Museum of Natural History (how intellectual of me!). I came to the conclusion that I am about to graduate in one month and have failed to visit every building on campus, so I started today by popping in to the nearest one and discovered it was a museum!

I have two juicy things for you today on the blog:

…the most important being the history of nail polish (?!).

…the second being my actual blog post on this stunning jumpsuit.

Is it just me, or was every woman convinced nail polish was manufactured in some cosmetic lab in the 1950s?

Well, you and I couldn’t be more wrong. Turns out, nail polish originated in China and was a way to determine class distinction! Lower, poor ladies wore nude colored polish and the upper echelon boasted bright red. Read the full scoop here!

So, summer is around the corner (I say that as we just entered spring), and I’ve found THE perfect transitioning piece that just works for both seasons. And, it’s got the whole stripes trend that everyone is fawning over. I’m not typically a stripes/polka dots/pattern kind of person, but the visual effect this jumpsuit gives is hard to ignore.

The wide leg cut elongates and flatters every figure, and—not to be crude—but look at those backside curves! I don’t boast a curvy figure whatsoever, but the shape and the way this suit falls on the body is seriously stunning, and amplifies what junk you may or may not have in the trunk.

Since I’m mostly all legs and not much torso, the waist cinching feature was miraculous, but it did leave some extra fabric that my abdomen couldn’t make up for. If you have a larger bust, I wouldn’t worry about the strapless design of this jumpsuit at all. The elastic band is a lifesaver and will work for all bust sizes.

The colors, the stripes, and wide leg features of this silky suit reminds me a bit of the 70s, and I loved pairing my favorite retro style white sunnies with it. I could see this style transitioning to evening so easily by exchanging the wedges for pumps and adding a clutch.

The breathable fabric and strapless cut makes it perfect for those balmy summer nights we have ahead of us! Basically, if you’re looking for a fun, show-stopping piece that you can dress up or down and be the brightest one in the crowd, this jumpsuit is for you.
