Red Jumpsuits, Girl's Night Out, and Embracing Confidence in What You Wear
Move over, LBD.
I’ve got a new GNO go-to.
The LRJ—Little Red Jumpsuit. Honestly, I never liked that the word “little” was tacked on to the widely known acronym for Little Black Dress.
It implies that women can only rock that simplistic, sexy style if they’re a size 0.
Newsflash—you can rock any style at any size.
That being said, I’m here to introduce the new girls night out uniform, the reinvented date night go-to. We all love black (well, me not so much), but it’s time to push it to the back of the closet for right now. Red isn't a revolutionary hue, but it's often a misinterpreted and stereotyped one in fashion--especially for "every day styles".
"...a new girl's night out uniform..."
Whether you’re heading out for a night with the gals, or opting for an intimate dinner with your significant other, a red jumpsuit is the way to go. I think women tend to shy away from red. There’s this stigma that you have to ooze confidence and ferocity just to wear the dang color.
On the contrary, I think stepping into such a bold color gives you the confidence to tackle the day, the meeting, the conversation, the sidewalk, the girls night out, the date night...
I’m essentially writing this to encourage you, if you don’t already, to add a red number like this one to your wardrobe and give it a chance! A red jumpsuit will automatically catapult you into the limelight of the evening—and that’s okay. It’s time to stop shying away from being the best-dressed woman in the room. You can strut your stuff without doing so pridefully or to spite others.
It’s okay to own what you wear, wear it with confidence, and inspire other women to do the same.
Owning a red jumpsuit that you can rock during day or night is going to give your wardrobe such a boost because you can pair it with so many things to make it appropriate for any occasion! Read below for some examples of what I'm talking about here..
Girls Night Out: Nude heels, flashy accessories, and a simple clutch (don’t forget the red lipstick!)
Date Night: Black pumps or flats, a metallic clutch, and gold earrings (bonus points for whipping your hair into an elegant chignon or tasteful messy bun)
Day Brunch: casual wedges or sandals, a fun tote, and minimal jewelry (but add a pop of pink or peach lipstick to avoid washing yourself out)
The jumpsuit I’m wearing is from almost 5 years ago! I couldn’t find it online, but I found so many good (maybe better dupes). Earrings are Oscar de la Renta (an investment piece, but 100% worth it) and my pout is courtesy of my wonderful partnership with Soap and Glory and their fabulous new lip crayon. Seriously, do yourself a favor and swipe as many of these as you can!! My lips have never looked fuller and the crayon glides on smooth as butter!
I’ve linked some of my favorite red jumpsuits for y’all below. Tell me which one is your favorite! Now, go get ‘em.
